Acrylic dimensional letters are a great way to display your logo, a tagline, a quote, or any other lettering 3-dimensionally on a wall. You can see that we made an interior sign for Loyola Marymount University. This is for LMU School of Film and Television that is in a new building in Playa Vista. This sign is a smaller, non-illuminated version of the building signs that we made for them which were channel letter signs. The font that they chose to use for this campus is a clean, sans-serif font that is easy to read.
When we first visited the location, the lobby area was already completed and they knew exactly what they wanted the logo sign to look like. We received the artwork, took measurements of the wall space, and started on a proof. The proof shows exactly how the sign will look, an accurate rendering, and has the specifications of the sign and the materials so the client can see exactly what they’re getting before we start production. If any changes are to be made, it would need to be done before the client signs off on the proof. In this case, the client came to us with a clear idea of what they wanted so we didn’t have any revisions.
The sign was made by routing the letters from black acrylic. Black is very neutral, and it works well because it doesn’t stand out too much, but complements the black details on the walls and the reception desk. The acrylic we used was 1/4″ thick so it’s not too bulky, but still adds a little bit of dimension to the sign. The letters were mounted flush to the wall with non-marking VHB.
