First Baptist Church of Canoga Park wanted to update the design of two existing directional signs and create two additional new signs to help with the wayfinding on their property. As you can see from the photos, we made two directional signs with arrows and two identification signs for the two doors for the Nursery and Toddler Room.

When the client first reached out to us for the signs, they had put together mockups of the signs they were considering. The initial mockups included two signs that displayed the logo, church name, and “Toddlers Ages 2 to 4”, and one with “Nursery” and an arrow that also had the logo and church name. After we visited the location, took measurements, and walked around the property with them, they decided to add a sign to direct people to the church office and put a sign next to the nursery door that just read “Nursery”.

Instead of including the entire logo and business name, they decided to change the design so just part of the cross was on the sign. This was more subtle than having the entire name and logo on every sign as they did in the original design but still made sure that the signs were personalized.

During the design revisions, we went through a few small changes like changing the dimensions, font stroke, arrow size, and wording. Instead of “Toddlers Ages 2 to 4”, they simplified the text to “Toddlers” and simplified “Church Office” to just “Office”. One small detail that was changed in the logo was that the corners on the color blocks were rounded.

After the design was finalized, we digitally printed the green color blocks for the logo on vinyl and used black vinyl for the lettering and arrows. The vinyl was laid onto white sibond and the signs were mounted onto the exterior walls with VHB and silicone.
