Mission Hills Dental was moving into a new office location and were renovating the interior. They wanted to get some high-end interior signage for the space and were referred to us by Classic Tile and Flooring, a tile store in Santa Monica, California that we had made exterior signs for a couple of years back. Classic Tile and Flooring had a storefront where they could put up a sign, but Mission Hills Dental is inside of an office building so their main focus with signage was in the reception area/waiting room.
Dr. Razi, the owner of Mission Hills, made a visit to our office to show us what they had in mind for the signage. Their Interior Designer had already provided them with drawings, renderings, and specifications so all they needed was a company to manufacture the signs and install them. We made a total of three logo signs and a Mission Statement sign. For the reception area, they wanted an illuminated sign. The plans from the Designer called out an internally illuminated cabinet with push-thru letters and graphics. Everything was called out from the material and color of the backer panel and letters to the depth of the sign so the quoting and proofing was a breeze. There were no changes that needed to be made during proofing so we were able to jump right into production.
The first step was to make a white aluminum box that would hold the letters. The logo and lettering were routed out of the front of the aluminum and 1/2″ translucent white acrylic letters were routed to match the letters and logo that were routed out of the aluminum. The acrylic letters are “pushed through” the back of the panel which is why they are called push-thru letters. After the letters were attached, we digitally printed the logo onto translucent vinyl and adhered it to the faces of the acrylic letters so you can see the gold gradient of the logo when the sign is on, and the letters illuminate white on the edges.
