Loyola Marymount University School of Film and Television was in need of new exterior signage, one of which was an update on an existing monument sign. LMU School of Film and Television is just one of many schools that Loyola Marymount University is a parent school to and they wanted to make sure that the new school was easy to locate.
The school is located in a building that takes up an entire block in Playa Vista, California. The building is four stories tall so it can be seen from a major street, but the entrance is on a smaller side street. The channel letter signs can be seen from the major street so the building can be located easily. Once you turn off from the street, you can follow the building until you get to a monument sign that displays the building’s address. If you know the school’s address, this sign will let you know that you have arrived at the school. But many people will use navigation apps on their phone for directions and if you’re going to a location listed on the maps, you only need the name and not the address. This is why having the business name displayed on the monument sign is a great idea.
They wanted the information to stand out, but they didn’t want it to be too overpowering so they asked for lettering in red to read the school’s name. The font we used and the size of the letters works well with the rest of the monument sign and serves its purpose perfectly.
