A few years back we made an illuminated interior wall sign for Wallis Annenberg PetSpace in Playa Vista, California. Annenberg PetSpace is not only an adoption center, it is a community space that has an interactive place for pet adoptions, an education center, and a leadership institute. They wanted to make sure that their building could be found easily while advertising the business so they also had us manufacture, permit, and install exterior signs. Earlier this year, we blogged about the illuminated monument sign. Shortly after, we finished this channel letter sign for the building. Illuminated signage is a great way to make sure that your business can be seen 24/7. The type of channel letter sign we made for them is a front-lit channel letter sign. Front-lit channel letters are internally illuminated fabricated metal letters. The faces are translucent and there are LEDs inside of the channel letters so the faces light up at nighttime. As you can see from the photos, we used different colors for different parts of the sign to match their logo.
Channel letters and other building signs are typically mounted directly into the wall, but we were not allowed to drill holes into the metal wall cladding. This is why we built a large frame for the channel letters to be mounted on. We were able to suspend the frame from the roof because the building has a parapet roof. An exterior building sign is very important to a business, especially if they are the only business occupying the building, so it was important that we were able to get a building sign up for them. We handle everything from the manufacturing, the permitting, and the installation to assure that everything is done right. Getting a sign like this approved by the city is not an easy task, but since we were part of every step of the process, we were able to make any necessary adjustments to make sure that our client got what they needed.
